Holography has played an increasingly diverse and significant role in industry, engineering and metrology.
Our clients have used holography for such areas as quality control and analysis in manufacture of optics, and also as a replacement of complex optical arrangements where massive size reduction can be achieved especially where laser diodes are used in conjunction with the hologram. (See case studies for more details).
The ability to drastically reduce the size of some optical configurations while exactly reproducing the performance of an optical system has some very wide applications. You can in effect replace an entire optical system with a single holographic glass plate known as a Holographic Optical Element (HOE).

The unique quality of holograms to record at the resolution of light waves (0.5 microns) notably when used with our material (with a mean grain size of less than 20 nm), allows for high diffraction efficiencies in reproducing the required light field with almost zero optical noise.
One of the most effective and potent ways to utilize HOEs is when coupled to laser illumination, as this gives perfect wave front reproduction. The recent arrival over the last few years of extremely cheap and compact laser diodes, has allowed for increased interest in the potential of holograms for providing optical solutions and we welcome all interest and challenges from industry to apply this technology to your specific needs.
A simple way to describe the current holographic role in optics would be as a "solid state" equivalent, upgrade or replacement of conventional optics with all the advantages of robustness, durability, reproduction in volume, and cost savings.
The company can provide three principal forms of service to our industrial clients:
- We create the holographic light sensitive material, so we can modify this and the substrate on which it is coated to suit any particular requirement
- We can make the hologram and if necessary mass replicate it
- Feasibility and consultation
Some examples follow but due to confidentiality and joint patents pending we have omitted some case studies or specific details.
