The aim of this project was to replace an aberration free optical arrangement that occupied 5m with a single hologram. It was not feasible for the application to occupy more than a few cm of space. The optical arrangement was set up and a hologram successfully made of the emerging wavefront. |

When illuminated by a laser diode, the footprint in the relevant dimension of the complete holographic optical assembly measured only 2.5cm compared to 5m, a phenomenal reduction in size thereby making the intended project entirely feasible. There was no perceptible difference in the performance of the hologram from that of the optics assembled to make it. The possibility of widespread distribution of the proposed item can easily be addressed by mass holographic replication which we can also provide.
