Colour Holographic Ltd is the sole manufacturer of the BB series of ultra-fine grain holographic emulsions. The BB emulsion is named after the scientists who developed it after many years of research and development, Dr Richard Birenheide of Germany and Jeff Blyth of Cambridge University. The series of emulsions was launched in 1996 to much acclaim from holographers worldwide due to its exceptionally low scatter and high diffraction efficiency, resulting in images of a quality not seen before.

Michael Medora acquired the rights to the BB range in 2001 and Colour Holographic has been producing the range of emulsions ever since. The emulsions are made by a series of complex chemical reactions that we have refined over the years, but begin as basic raw materials including animal gelatin, in which the light sensitive particles are suspended.

Now based at its own facility in Maldon, Essex, the BB range has a lower scatter and higher consistency and reliability than ever before, which allows the plates to be used by such a wide variety of clients, markets and applications.
