To achieve the best possible results with the BB emulsion range in terms of sensitivity prior to exposure, final plate clarity and diffraction efficiency, it will be necessary to pre-sensitize the plates before use, particularly if they are over 6 months old. We recommend soaking them in a solution of water, adding a small quantity of photographic wetting agent (Ilfotol or Kodak Photoflo). An alternative to this is the use of TEA (Triethanalomine) in a solution of water andin the holography industry for many years as photographic wetting

agent. TEA has been used a method of both sensitizing the plate and shifting the reconstructed colour of reflection holograms. To change the colour shift, different TEA concentrations can be used. The presensitisation process will last for about 3 days. To dry the plate use a squeegee gently on the emulsion and then dry with a hair dryer set to warm on the glass side of the plate. An alternative would be to blot the plates with high quality absorbent blotting paper, followed by warm air from a hair dryer as before.
